My name is Jim Counter, and I've been taking photos since the early 1960's joining Harrogate Photographic Society during the 1966/67 season. In 1970 I was elected to the committee and held the post of Competitions Secretary from 1975 to 2008. I was elected President in 1976 and again in 1996 after which I was made an Honorary Life Vice President of the Society.
When I retired from the architectural profession in 2006 I took up watercolour painting, something I had dabbled in for a few years, and joined Ripon Arts to take advantage of their workshop. Attending the workshop every week, I have seen a marked improvement in the paintings I produce, the majority of which are on an architectural theme.
